🚘🏡❤️ Frequently Asked Insurance Questions 💬

1. What types of insurance does State Farm offer? We can help protect more than just your car! Depending on your needs, coverage may include auto, homeowners, renters, condo, personal liability, life, business, pet and more. Our team can help you look at the bigger picture and find coverage that fits your household.

2. How much car insurance am I required to have in Georgia? Georgia requires drivers to carry at least $25,000 per person/$50,000 per accident in bodily injury liability and $25,000 in property damage liability. However, choosing only the state minimum may leave you with less protection than you need.

3. What’s the difference between comprehensive and collision coverage? Collision generally helps cover damage to your vehicle from a collision. Comprehensive coverage can help with things such as theft, vandalism, fire and certain other non-collision losses.

4. Does homeowners insurance cover everything? Not necessarily! Homeowners insurance covers specific losses outlined in your policy, and some risks—such as flooding—may require separate coverage. Your policy’s exclusions, limits and deductibles matter.

5. Can I insure a home that I rent to someone else? Yes. A property used as a long-term rental or short-term rental may have different insurance needs than a home you personally occupy. Always tell your agent how the property is actually being used so the policy can be properly matched to the risk.

6. What happens if someone gets hurt at my house? Homeowners insurance can include personal liability coverage, which may help protect you if you’re legally responsible for someone else’s injury or damage to their property.

7. How much life insurance do I need? There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Think about your income and debts, children, future expenses and the financial support your loved ones would need if you weren’t there.

8. Do I need life insurance if I already have it through work? Employer-provided coverage can be a great benefit, but it may not be enough to meet your family’s needs—and coverage may change if you change jobs. It’s worth reviewing what you have and determining whether additional coverage makes sense.

9. When should I review my insurance?

Anytime something important changes! Buying a home, getting married, having a baby, buying a new vehicle, starting a business, adding a driver, purchasing a rental property or making major improvements to your home are all good reasons to review your coverage. And honestly, even if nothing has changed, an annual insurance check-up is a great idea. The NAIC recommends reviewing insurance policies periodically to make sure your coverage still fits your situation.

Still have questions? That’s what we’re here for! Insurance doesn’t have to feel confusing. Give our team a call, stop by our office in downtown Ellijay, or reach out for a personalized insurance review. We’d love to help you make sure your coverage fits your home, your family and your life.
